Arkansas Tech University celebrated the grand opening of the Ferguson Student Union on March 18, marking a major investment in student life and campus engagement in Russellville.
The nearly 70,000-square-foot facility, more than a decade in the making, now serves as the central hub of campus, offering student meeting spaces, dining, recreation, and collaborative areas designed to enhance the overall student experience.
University leadership, donors, and community members gathered for the dedication ceremony, including remarks from President Dr. Russell Jones and representatives of the Ferguson family, for whom the building is named. Jimmy and Cindi Ferguson were recognized for their lead gift and longstanding connection to the university.
Speakers emphasized the building’s role as the “living room” of campus, a place where students will build community, develop leadership skills, and create lasting connections. The project reflects years of planning, student input, and philanthropic support, culminating in a modern facility designed to serve Arkansas Tech students for generations to come.

The opening of the Ferguson Student Union underscores Arkansas Tech’s continued commitment to student success, campus life, and long-term growth.
